With the summer break coming to an end, for most of the students, it’s been almost a month away from the school and books. Whether you’re heading to college for the first time or going to the next level in the same school, it can take some time to get used to the schedule. If you are worried that you will find it hard to get used to studies, you should start preparing yourself in advance.
Tips to prepare for New Academic Year
Here are few tips for the new academic year that will help you beat the stress and start your year, calm and prepared.
Be positive
For returning students, the thought of waking up early or catching the Bus again, is enough to turn them off going back for another year of study. New students, on the other hand, may be nervous about navigating their way around campus and adjusting to a new environment. Either way, the first day is usually the hardest. It doesn’t take too long to get back into your routine or settle into your course. So our first tip is to be positive and welcome the start of the New Year.
Reconnect with a healthy lifestyle
During holidays, you have often been allowed to sleep late and eat a little of what you want, at any time. The first thing to do is to help yourself make a smooth start and not to wait until the last day to find a healthy lifestyle. You should get used to have regular and reasonable hours of sleep and to eat healthy food. The ideal thing is to start reconnecting with a healthy lifestyle one week to ten days before school starts.
Create goals
Creating goals helps give you direction for the New Year and enables you to realise what is important and what you need to concentrate on. Setting goals can also help you achieve certain targets and improve on your previous academic year. Make sure your goals are realistic and achievable. Your goals may include achieving a certain grade in a subject or making sure you finish and submit assignments on time.
Make new friends
School is all about learning. Part of what you will learn is how to get along with different people and that makes a very important aspect of your life. Don't be upset if your old friends seem to be drifting away - they're probably making new friends, too. Growing up sometimes means that we have different interests than we did before and the friends we used to have don't always share them - that's okay. It doesn't mean you can't still be friendly with them, it just means you're both moving on with your lives and growing in different directions.
Try to do something new
I'm sure you have got lot of interests. Try learning something completely different from your subject. Lots of academic institutions run crafting, sports and music clubs, which will help you stay creative, active and will give you something other than lectures to look forward to.
This way, you will stay healthy throughout the new school year, be able to put up with all of those challenges and fully enjoy the activities that you are going to be engaged in. Have fun!
I would also like to remind that even with the best preparation many students may still need extra help to tackle new academic challenges or to improve their skills. Getting right help at the right time will also prevent students from failing further behind as the year progresses.
